Monica Moon

Monica Moon began her dance career at the age of five under the direction of Doris Aceli. She studied ballet, tap and jazz for seven years. After graduation from high school, she went to study at San Antonio College. She joined San Antonio College Folk Dancers; Director Nelda Drury where she studied international folk dancing and then performed with the group which, toured Japan, Mexico and throughout the United States.

While performing with the folk dancers in Maine, she was offered the position of soloist with "The Matteo Ethno/American Dance Company" under the direction of Matteo and Carola Goya in New York City. She toured with the company for three years performing regional dances from Spain, Mexico and East India While in New York City she studied with world-renowned artist "La Meri".

Once again she was offered a position in Las Vegas with the Charo show performing Flamenco and Jazz. In Los Angeles she studied Jazz with the renowned dance instructor Joe Tremaine. She performed with the Charo Company for two years where she had the opportunity to share the stage with celebrities such as Joel Grey, Dom De Luise, Bobby Goldsboro to name a few.

Soon after her love for classical Spanish and Flamenco grew and she joined the San Antonio based "Compania De Arte Espanol" under the direction of Jose and Chiqui Linares where she began as a soloist and was later promoted to the position of first dancer. The company traveled to Spain twice, first to perform and then to study under the instruction of the finest master teachers such as Ciro, Maria Magdelena, Pedro Azorin at Amor De Dios in Madrid, Spain. She has been on staff as a dance instructor at the Maine folk dance camp, Matteo Echno/American Theatre workshops, Dance America based in Dallas, Texas and San Antonio College. Her passion for dance continues.
